Be a style mixologist

The joy of winter dressing lies in a masterful interplay of layering. By mixing formals with casuals, clashing sporty with evening wear and aligning textures with prints, a wide range of ensembles can be created. Sweatshirts, athleisure co-ord sets and hoodie jackets lend themselves to numerous styling tricks. Throw them on a trench coat or wear them inside an evening blazer or pair them with a cable knit cardigan and you can easily own every room you walk into. Here are some easy winter style pairings which blur the rigid boundaries between formals and casuals:

Sweatshirt with an evening jacket

Recently, style icon Jacob Elordi was spotted in a sweatshirt and a baseball cap styled with a knee-length car coat. Another pin-up sensation Timothee Chalamet was photographed layering a sweatshirt with a leather jacket and speakers while running an errand. Perhaps one could borrow some tricks from these style savants. An evening jacket can be made more playful by adding a sporty layer to it. The most predictable choice to style a cocktail jacket would be a tuxedo shirt or a black tee. However, real fun lies in exploring the unexplored and unexpected. Instead of looking like a walking catalogue, how about styling your favourite dinner jacket with a comfy terry cotton sweatshirt in a neutral hue? Offset the look with a pair of trainers, a chronograph and you're good to go.

Athleisure co-ord sets with outerwear

Co-ord sets don't appear to be going out of style even in 2024. Understandably so as they're impossibly comfortable and super easy to style. Crafted in the comfiest fabrics, vibrant hues and relaxed fits, they go perfectly well with a knee-length coat for a night on the tiles. Style them with either a duster coat crafted in a heritage fabric like herringbone or bouclé tweed or have fun with a shaggy option in faux fur and you're good to go. Either go tone on tone or colour block. For instance, an olive co-ord set would look dapper with a faux fur coat in brown and a pale blue twinset would complement a midnight blue long line waistcoat effortlessly.

Hoodie jackets with a cardigan

Hoodie jackets and cardigans are a match made in style heaven. Since preppy chic is having a moment and the all-pervading impact of collegiate aesthetic can't be overlooked, it's time to invest in some timeless hoodies and cardigans. Cozy, comfy and absolutely chic! Either match the cardigan with a hoodie by picking them from the same family of colours or clash them with another shade. A grey hoodie would go well with a pale pink cable knit cardigan and a beige hoodie would look incredible with a biscotti-toned waffle knit jumper. All in all, winter style is all about reconciling trends with practicality.
